Hope this works. The blackberry browser doesn't seem to work very well with xanga. Anyone know how to blog from a blackberry?
Yup, on the road again. Hopefully, minioreo's happy.
Went to Vegas this week. Never believe who I saw on the way there, there, and on the way back. And no, I never did see my brother. Unfortunately he was on call and thus seriously sleep deprived. Some guy riding a motorcycle got hit by a car. He said he's never seen anyone so busted up before.... mainly because if they're in that bad shape, they don't usually live.
Yeah.... Anyways, on the way there, Penn and Teller were on my flight. Read once that Penn, the spokesman for the group, went to clown school. Teller, the mute in the act, was a professor of linguistics. Go figure.
Funny how they didn't sit together on the plane. I wonder if it was a ploy so that people wouldn't recognize them.
While in Vegas, I attended a conference. Thousands of people there. But I heard my name one afternoon. Turned around and there was Tony Lee, former roommate and former youth pastor at our church. I thought he fell off the face of the earth. Turns out he's in Plano, TX. Close enough.
On the flight home, I heard my name called again. Turned around and there was my ex-boss. He went to the same convention.
Strange week. Too bad I didn't get to spend more time with my brother.... Or Penn and Teller, for that matter.
Hmmmm.... Looks like my planes boarding. Yup, off to HK and then China. Wonder who I'll bump into.
went to a dodger game last friday. sat in the all-you-can-eat right field pavilion. typically $35, group rates got us admission, all you can eat dodger dogs, popcorn, nachos, peanuts and sodas for $23.
i didn't expect much from the dodgers. they were playing the cubs, owners of the best record in the MLB. hiroki kuroda was pitching for the dodgers with his 3.93 ERA. amazingly, he pitched a four-hit, complete game shutout, striking out 11 batters. impressive.
i must admit, i haven't followed baseball all season. i don't know where all these asian players came from. i knew there were many japanese players.... the dodgers have a great closer named saito. but i didn't know they had a guy from taiwan. chin-lung hu is the 5th player in the major leagues from taiwan, the stat sheet said. but, he's the first player in major league baseball history to have a two letter last name.
still, i can't help but ask, if hu's on short, who's on first?
just to show you how brilliant abbott and costello were, here's another clip with just the dialog. they're so sharp!
the celtics shot 38 free throws tonight. leon powe went to the foul line 13 times himself, while the entire laker team went a total of 10 times. still, you can't help but like the guy. he sure picked a great day to have a breakout game. here is abc's half time story on powe.
here's a story written about him during his senior year in high school.
wilbon tells it like it is....
loved kobe's fight tonight, though. the rest of the team seemed disheartened. down 24 points with under 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter, i thought phil would sit him for the rest of the game. but kobe just would not quit. he refused to stop fighting. they got within two with a minute left. ran out of time. sigh.... good effort, boys!
